Lawrence Kasdan, cherished co-writer of 1980’s The Empire Strikes Back and 1983’s Return of the Jedi, has announced the 2018 Han Solo prequel will be his last Star Wars project.

Kasdan told German tabloid Bild (via THR) that he’s ready to move on from the franchise, and only got involved with the untitled Han Solo film because “his family were so excited about the idea for him, he agreed to co-write the screenplay with his son Jon Kasdan.”

“I have now made four Star Wars movies. That’s more than enough,” he said.

Kasdan took over The Force Awakens script when screenwriter Michael Arndt backed out. He co-wrote and produced the upcoming Episode VII with director J.J. Abrams — who describes working with Kasdan as “unbeatable.”

We don’t know many details about the Han Solo prequel, however, the famous intergalactic smuggler will be shown in his early 20’s.
