UPDATE: The first full reviews are in and they’re mixed, giving the film a decent score on MetaCritic.
The first reactions to Disney-Pixar’s Cars 3 have crashed in and they’re extremely good.
Cars 2 disappointed many in 2011, especially critics (with a poor score on Rotten Tomatoes), but reviews for the third installment may be more positive if these first reactions are anything to go by.
The film has been highly praised following its world premiere over the weekend, with many highlighting its emotional moments and “female empowerment” themes. See the Twitter reactions below:

Also it gave me all of the girl power feels. Cruz is the best! I wish I'd had this movie as a kid.

everyone, bring your boys AND GIRLS to see cars 3! it has a girl power thread in the story that made me cheer out loud! huge respect to the leadership of the movie who changed one of the originally male lead characters to a Latina female and then reworked her story until it was truly an authentic portrayal. (of a talking car but you get what i'm saying right? ?) congratulations to the entire #cars3 team!!
Saw Cars 3 last night and it's great. The performances of Owen Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy are worth the price of admission alone.
