The fourth film in Sylvester Stallone’s Expendables series has been confirmed as the last.

Expendables 4 has been rumored for a while now and it’s now been confirmed by German distributor, Splendid Film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stallone will reprise his role alongside Jason Statham and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The other crew-members are yet to be announced but it’s likely the majority of the original team will be back. A director, production and release dates are also currently unknown, so the film still may be some way off.

According to Stallone’s friend Randy Couture, a female reboot of the franchise, titled The Expendabelles, is moving forward, ahead of a fourth Expendables:

‘I am hearing Expendabelles talks have been going on for the past two years,’ he told the New York Daily News.

‘I heard they had a script they were adapting for The Expendables 4 and that we were going to start shooting for number four in the fall. Now I’m hearing it might be pushed back and The Expendabelles might be back on the docket.’

Not much is known about the female remake, although Stallone had previously said that Sigourney Weaver may take the lead role in the film.
