According to Variety, the former manager of rap group N.W.A, Jerry Heller, has filed a $110 million defamation lawsuit against the filmmakers of Straight Outta Compton over his depiction in the blockbuster biopic. Heller was portrayed in the film by actor Paul Giamatti.

“Untrue statements in the movie made Heller look like a dishonest, sleazy guy that he was in effect responsible for the group breaking up,” his lawyer Michael R. Shapiro said.

Defendants in the suit include former N.W.A. members and the film’s producers Ice Cube and Dr. Dre, director F. Gary Gray, NBC Universal, and the estate of late N.W.A. member Eazy-E.

Straight Outta Compton is the fourteenth highest-grossing film of the year at the domestic box office.
