Marvel Studios seem to be increasingly confident in their latest upcoming movie, Captain America: Civil War. They don’t appear to be engaged with battling Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice head-on, but are somewhat keeping their cards close to their chest – and now that a report of early screening reactions has come to light, we understand why.

Writing on BirthMoviesDeath, critic Devin Faraci reports on the reactions of some anonymous sources who have seen an early screening of the film. What do we learn from their opinions? Here’s a brief rundown:

  • Spider-Man is ‘great’
  • Black Panther is ‘phenomenal’; Chadwick Boseman is a ‘major addition to the MCU’
  • It makes us feel ‘the true cost of Sokovia’
  • The last half hour of the film is ‘brutal, both physically and emotionally’; the last act plays as ‘an emotional horror movie’
  • It’s definitely ‘Captain America 3’, and not ‘Avengers 2.5’

Keep in mind these are the opinions of a few select people, with their own select tastes. But if these early reactions are anything to go on, we are in for a treat when Captain America: Civil War is unleashed on April 29 (UK) and May 6 (US).
