Donald Glover breaks record as first black director to win an Emmy for comedy

It was a historical night for at the Microsoft Centre in Los Angeles last night, the 2017 Emmy Awards were probably the most star-studded Emmy award ceremony ever, with many of Hollywoods biggest movie talent migrating to TV now, it proved to be quiet the night garnering fierce competition between shows like Big Little Lies and The Handmaid’s Tale which won the most awards.

Nevertheless, Donald Glover’s Atlanta has been the much-loved underdog during awards season, picking up two Golden Globes earlier this year for Glover as Best Comedy Actor and Best Comedy.

Now, Donald Glover is the first ever black person to win the Emmy Award for Directing a Comedy Series. Donald and his brother were also nominated for as Best Comedy writers and Donald again was nominated for Best Comedy Actor.

Donald Glover is currently writing, directing and acting Atlanta’s second season, he appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming earlier this year will be appearing in Star Wars’ Han Solo movie next year and has signed onto to show run a Deadpool animated series for FOX.

It really is fascinating how any of this work gets done at all…
