Charles Roven No Longer Producing DC Films
The DC Extended Universe is going through more creative changes. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Charles Roven is “no longer producing certain DC movies.” Roven previously produced Batman v Superman, Man of Steel, and Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, as well as the upcoming Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman. Now, however, he’ll no longer be producing Aquaman or The Flash. Meanwhile, comic book/television writer Geoff Johns and Warner Bros. exec Jon Berg have been put in charge of DC Films.
THR says, “Talks are underway to have Roven … segue to a different role going forward, likely that of an executive producer who is not involved in day-to-day production. However, he potentially could continue to be a producer on some sequels to the movies he’s currently producing.”
Given the financial and critical disappointment of Batman v Superman, it isn’t surprising that WB is shaking things up behind the scenes. The studio recently brought in Ben Affleck to produce Justice League and relieved Seth Grahame-Smith of his directorial duties for The Flash. Will Zack Snyder get the boot next?
