John Crowley’s Brooklyn hasn’t even had its home release and yet already it’s now in development for a TV spin-off. According to Screen, Wildgaze Films will produce the spin-off to the Oscar and BAFTA-nominated film.
The TV version that producers Amanda Posey and Finola Dwyer are developing will revolve around the boarding house for young women run in the film by Julie Walter’s character.
“I suggested the idea to Colm (Author of the novel) quite early on, before there was even a first draft for the film,” Dwyer said.
Saoirse Ronan is unlikely to return to her oscar nominated role but there’s a strong chance Walters will reprise her role for the series.
The spin-off is in early development with the BBC’s drama department but will soon start the production and casting stage.
