Rovio Entertainment have announced plans for an Angry Birds Movie sequel.
A second film in the franchise looks set to go ahead after the first film’s success. According to Box Office Mojo, The Angry Birds Movie had a budget of $73 million and has so far brought in $346.9 million world-wide.
“We have started planning the sequel to The Angry Birds Movie,” said Rovio Chief Executive Kati Levoranta.
Rovio also reported earlier this year that the movie had broken a record, becoming the biggest May opening for an original animated film. The Finnish company has however struggled to repeat the success of the Angry Birds mobile phone game, when it first broke onto the scene in 2011. Although, they’ll be hoping that a second movie will continue to keep the franchise alive.
