The Girl on the Train: Fans of the book are “angry” over the film’s setting change while the author calls Emily Blunt “too beautiful” for the role

Paula Hawkins, the author of The Girl On The Train, thinks that Emily Blunt is ‘”too beautiful” for the role in the upcoming film adaptation. While fans of the book are not happy with the movie’s change of setting.

Hawkins agrees with many that Blunt, who plays the leading role of Rachel (who is presented as an overweight alcoholic in the novel) is physically not suitable for the part:

“Everybody moans about, ‘Oh, she’s too beautiful to play Rachel’ and she is [too beautiful],” she said at the Chiswick Book Festival, via Mail Online.

“But the thing about Rachel, you know the key part of her is her self-loathing and how bad she feels about herself. They’ve done their best, I mean to sort of make her look a bit shit, but you know…”

That’s not the only aspect of the film to draw criticism, as many fans of the book are “angry” with the movie changing the setting from London to New York. It’s no doubt, the change will have been made to appeal to a wider market but many have taken to twitter to express their disappointment with the change:
