Disney Crosses $1 Billion in 128 Days

2016 isn’t even halfway over and Disney is already having a phenomenal year at the box office.

According to Box Office Mojo, Disney’s domestic ticket sales made over $1 billion in just 128 Days. Disney now holds the record for the fastest studio to reach such a landmark. The record was previously held by Universal Pictures, which racked in the big bucks last year with Jurassic World, Furious 7, and Minions.

Disney has made a bundle over the past four months with Zootopia, which has grossed $328 million thus far, and their live-action version of The Jungle Book, which has grossed $287.6 million thus far. Captain America: Civil War most notably gave Disney a significant boost. This billion dollar record was achieved on May 7, 2016, as the latest Marvel film had the fifth largest opening weekend of all-time.

Disney’s incredible run at the box office is far from over. Throughout 2016, the studio will also release Alice Through the Looking Glass, Finding Dory, The BFG, Pete’s Dragon, Doctor Strange, Moana, and a little movie called Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. With a lineup like this, there’s no telling how many records the Mouse House will break this year.
