X-Men’s Famke Janssen won’t return as Jean Grey
With X-Men: Dark Phoenix coming out next year, there’s been some speculation as to whether or not Famke Janssen will reprise her role as Jean Grey.
Although Sophie Turner from Game of Thrones is currently portraying a younger version of the character, Janssen still made a couple cameos as Jean in The Wolverine and X-Men: Days of Future Past. So it wouldn’t be out of the question for her to pop up in Dark Phoenix as well, right?
According to ComicBookMovie.com, however, Janseen believes that she’s officially done with the role.
“It’s the gift that keeps on, kept on giving. I think we’re done, but it was really great while it lasted and it lasted for a long time,” Janseen said at Denver Comic Con.
“It’s been nothing but a pleasure working not just as Jean Grey, which was such an honor because the comics were so fantastic already, but then the entire cast who I got to play with, all my fellow actors, thespians who are so talented.”
That being said, Janseen also mentioned that she would come back if the filmmakers asked.
“Jean Grey is a part of me. I would definitely come back to play her whenever they ask me.”
So perhaps there is still hope for Janssen’s return, although Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart seem to be retired following Logan.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix hits theaters on November 2, 2018.
