Wreck-It Ralph 2 is coming in 2018

Frozen isn’t the only recent Mouse House classic getting a sequel. Disney has confirmed that Wreck-It Ralph 2 is coming out on March 9, 2018.

Concept art for the follow-up was revealed on Facebook Live, showing Ralph and the glitchy Vanellope seemingly taking over the World Wide Web. John C. Reilly is set to return as the titular video game bad guy with a heart of gold.

“It’s top secret but I’ll tell you this much… Ralph leaves the arcade and wrecks the Internet,” Reilly said. “What could go wrong?”

Sarah Silverman is also on board to reprise her role as Vanellope. Rich Moore, who directed the original film and Zootopia, will co-direct this sequel with Phil Johnston.

Speaking with Collider, Moore hinted that the sequel could be called “Super Wreck-It Ralph.”

“You know what, it is definitely on the board,” Moore said. “Since the day you said that, it was like, that’s a really good title. The one thing is because it’s so about the Internet and less about arcade games, it might not be the perfect fit. But spiritually, it is my favorite frontrunner right now. But I’m not sure if it’s going to make the cut, man. But it’s definitely in the running.”

One can’t help but wonder what iconic video game characters will make cameos in this outing. Mario? Link? Trevor Philips? In any case, we’re just happy to see Ralph back on the big screen.
