Wedding Crashers 2 is in the works

Anyone for some more Wedding Crashers? Word on a potential sequel comes from Isla Fisher, who co-starred in the original, that early talks are being had about a second film – at least that is what Vince Vaughn has told her.

Speaking on The Today Show (via Vulture), Fisher said that after recently speaking to Vince Vaughn it seems that another doze of weddings and mayhem could be just around the corner:

“I bumped into Vince Vaughn at a party and he said that apparently we’re going to be making a sequel… I’m really excited to see what’s happened to Gloria!”

Wedding Crashers was a huge success when it opened in 2005 and was the 6th highest-grossing film in the USA with over $209million and its somewhat surprising a sequel hasn’t been made sooner. Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams, Christopher Walken and Bradley Cooper also co-starred in the film which David Dobkin (The Judge) directed.

Recent comedy sequels, particularly those that have taken a while to make it back to the screen, haven’t been particularly successful at either the box office or with critics (we are looking at you Zoolander 2 and Dumb and Dumber 2) but the chemistry between Vaughn and Wilson in the first was superb and is perhaps the best examples of their comedic talents through their careers thus far. Whether the likes of McAdams and Cooper, whose careers have sky-rocketed since 2005, remains to be seen.
