Supergirl Moving to The CW for Season 2

Supergirl is coming back for a second season, but it won’t air on CBS.

Earlier reports suggested that the superhero drama might be moving to the CW, which CBS and Warner Bros. co-own. The Hollywood Reporter has now confirmed that Supergirl will be joining Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow. All that’s missing from the CW’s DC lineup now is Fox’s Gotham and NBC’s Constantine, which was cancelled in 2015.

With such a high budget, Supergirl hasn’t been the ratings hit that CBS hoped for. However, the show did draw in more audiences with its recent Flash crossover. This explains why Supergirl is switching networks as apposed to being cancelled.

For our money, DC’s current TV shows are actually vastly superior to their recent movies. Be sure to check out our features on What the DC Extended Universe Can Learn from the Arrowverse and Felicity Smoak.
