Ryan Gosling to join Blade Runner sequel

Following a relatively lean period on screen, Ryan Gosling is in final negotiations to star alongside Harrison Ford in Blade Runner 2.

The Drive star recently turned his hand to directing with the divisive Lost River, but is now back for a number of acting projects, the most high-profile of which will be the follow-up to Ridley Scott’s sci-fi classic.

Harrison Ford announced his involvement in the project earlier this year, after years of denials, and director Denis Villeneuve is in place to helm the sequel. Scott will act as executive producer with the script being completed by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green.

Filming isn’t due to begin until next year, which will give both stars time to complete other outstanding projects. Ford, of course, will be in the new Star Wars and Gosling has Terrence Malick’s Weightless with Michael Fassbender and Christian Bale.

Gosling is also set to star in a ’70s-set detective story opposite Russell Crowe and a financial crisis drama with Brad Pitt and Christian Bale (again).

As for Blade Runner, you can still catch the original on the big screen. Here’s our review telling you why you should do just that.
