Russell Crowe starts campaign for Master and Commander 2

It’s been almost a decade and a half since Russell Crowe set sail in Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. Now the Oscar-winner is trying to get fans onboard for a second voyage.

On Twitter, Crowe informed his followers that a sequel isn’t out of the question, but Fox would need a little persuasion to get things going.

This isn’t the first time Crowe has pushed for a Master and Commander sequel, as he previously posted this back in 2010.

The original Master and Commander received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture. It wasn’t exactly a financial success, however, grossing just over $200 million against a $150 million budget. Back in 2005, director Peter Weir mentioned that a sequel would be “most unlikely.”

Should the adventures of Captain Jack Aubrey continue, or should Master and Commander 2 sink to the depths of development hell along with Gladiator 2?
