Robert Vaughn, star of The Man from U.N.C.L.E, dies aged 83

Acclaimed actor Robert Vaughn, famed for his role in hit 1960’s television show The Man From U.N.C.L.E, died on Friday after a short battle with acute leukaemia. The actor’s manager, Matthew Sullivan, confirmed the news to Deadline over the weekend saying: “Mr. Vaughn passed away with his family around him.”

Known to many as Napoleon Solo from U.N.C.L.E, which ran from 1964-1968, Vaughn has also featured in such high-profile films as The Ten Commandments, The Magnificent Seven, Bullitt, The Towering Inferno and Superman III.

Vaughn’s U.N.C.L.E co-star David McCallum told TVLine on the news: “I just heard the news, and I’m utterly devastated. Robert and I worked together for many years and losing him is like losing a part of me. My deepest sympathies go out to Linda and the Vaughn family.”
