Robert Pattinson tipped for Oscar nomination following Cannes’ reviews

From Twilight‘s teen vampire to Oscar-worthy actor? Robert Pattinson is being tipped for an Academy award nomination, following strong reviews for his latest role.

Pattinson stars in Ben and Joshua Safdie’s indie heist film, Good Time, and after it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last week, critics are praising Pattinson’s performance as his best yet and are tipping the 31-year-old for his first Oscar bow.

In the film, Pattinson’s plays Constantine ‘Connie’ Nikas, “a small-time crook on a dangerous journey through the criminal underworld to get his brother out of jail following a bank robbery.” And his layered performance has not gone unnoticed, with word at Cannes that he is being considered for an Oscar nomination. Quite surprisingly, Adam Sandler’s name has also been mentioned in the same capacity, for his turn in comedy drama, The Meyerowitz Stories:

With critics calling Pattinson’s display ‘intoxicating’ and ‘his most accomplished to date’, he could very well be set for awards, which could also mean success for the movie, as it currently has an impressive 93% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Read our rave review of the film below:
