Michael Keaton set to star in McDonald’s biopic

Having tucked away his Oscar acceptance speech this year, former Batman Michael Keaton will be hoping to capitalise on the success of Birdman with The Founder.

Harvey Weinstein will look to follow up a lean awards season, with a beefy telling of the franchising of one of the world’s best known brands. Keaton is circling the role of Ray Kroc, the man who made millions building the fast-food chain, having made a deal with the original McDonald brothers. It sounds like The Social Network with burgers, and what’s not to like about that?

The Blind Side and Saving Mr. Banks director John Lee Hancock is set to begin filming later this year, following an intense bidding war for the screenplay which was eventually won by The Weinstein Co.
