Michael Cera is set for Aaron Sorkin’s directorial debut Molly’s Game

Michael Cera is set to star alongside Jessica Chastain and Idris Elba in Aaron Sorkin’s Molly’s Game. This will be the directorial debut for the Oscar-winning screenwriter, who in the past has won for his work on The Social Network.

Cera is in talks to play a character named ‘Player X.’ The screenplay is based on the book Molly’s Game: From Hollywood’s Elite to Wall Street’s Billionaire Boy’s Club, My High-Stakes Adventure in the World of Underground Poker. (Yes that’s the title of the book!) The book is centred around the exploits of the author Molly Bloom (portrayed by Chastain), who organises underground poker games for Hollywood’s biggest stars including Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Ben Affleck.

Cera’s character develops a special relationship with Molly and Elba’s role is currently undecided. The film is being produced by Amy Pascal and Mark Gordon. Cera seemed to be on a role at the moment, he stars in Sausage Party which is currently in cinemas and will appear as Robin in LEGO Batman next year.
