Lin-Manuel Miranda May Star in Mary Poppins Sequel

Lin-Manuel Miranda is one of the greatest talents Broadway currently has to offer, developing and starring in musicals such as In the Heights and Hamilton. Now Miranda may be headed to the silver screen for a high-profile musical.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Miranda is in talks to play a lamplighter named Jack in Disney’s sequel to Mary Poppins. Emily Blunt is also in talks to star in the film as the magical nanny. Rob Marshall has already signed up to direct this sequel to the 1964 classic.

Miranda isn’t officially on board for the new Mary Poppins yet. However, he does have a couple other film projects lined up. He’ll be writing original songs for Disney’s Moana and playing the Genie in Speech & Debate. Miranda also notably wrote some of the music for a little movie called Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
