James Franco confirms Alien: Covenant role

James Franco has announced that he’ll star in Ridley Scott’s Alien prequel.

The Spider-Man actor has been previously rumored for the role but it hasn’t been confirmed until now.

Franco let slip his involvement in an interview with HeyUGuys when asked how he felt about being a part of the franchise:

“The news is out? I don’t know if he’s trying to trick me into talking about it…”

“I remember, when I was a kid, watching Alien for the first time, and that was huge,” he gushed. “I still watch it. I just watched it in the past month over at (Quentin) Tarantino’s theater, and… it’s such a good movie!”

According to reports, Franco will portray Branson, captain of the titular Covenant space ship, who is married to Katherine Waterston’s character Daniels.

Alien: Covenant hits screens on 19 May 2017.
