Is Daisy Ridley Playing Lara Croft in Tomb Raider Reboot?

The Tomb Raider video games have undergone some changes in recent years. Square Enix has truly evolved Lara Croft from a sex symbol into a more identifiable, three-dimensional character. With the games getting a timely reboot, Warner Bros. and MGM are looking to revive Tomb Raider on the big screen as well. According to Deadline, Daisy Ridley of Star Wars: The Force Awakens is “one of a number of actresses” being considered to play Lara Croft.

The iconic video game heroine was previously portrayed by Angelina Jolie in the 2001 film adaptation and its 2003 follow-up. While they admittedly weren’t great movies, Jolie did a perfectly serviceable job as the curvy Croft. Since the character’s been given more of a personality over time, it’s possible that Ridley will have more to work with in this reboot. Of course it’s yet to be confirmed if the breakout actress has landed the role. After all, she has a lot on her plate already with Star Wars: Episode VIII now filming.

Until the role of Lara Croft is officially cast, let’s pass the time by playing some Rise of the Tomb Raider!
