Ghost in the Shell: First Look at Scarlett Johansson as Major Kusanagi

The upcoming live-action adaption of the popular cyberpunk magna, Ghost in the Shell, features Scarlett Johansson as Major Motoko Kusanagi, the cyborg leader of elite task force Section 9. Their mission is to track down and stop perilous cyber criminals.

Below is the first image released by Paramount Pictures and Dreamworks Pictures that shows Johansson in full Major Kusanagi character.

Production has begun in Wellington, New Zealand, with Rupert Sanders directing the adaptation. Johansson stars alongside Michael Pitt (Boardwalk Empire), Takeshi Kitano and Pilou Asbæk.

Ghost in the Shell is set to release in the United States on March 31, 2017.
