Daniel Day-Lewis retiring from acting
Daniel Day-Lewis is an actor that gives so much, but always leaves us wanting more. Unfortunately, we won’t be seeing much of him in the foreseeable future.
Speaking with Variety, the 60-year-old performer’s publicist, Leslee Dart, stated, “Daniel Day-Lewis will no longer be working as an actor.”
The statement further reads, “He is immensely grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences over the many years. This is a private decision and neither he nor his representatives will make any further comment on this subject.”
Day-Lewis has only done just over ten films since winning his first Academy Award for 1989’s My Left Foot. Since then, he’s won two more Best Actor Oscars for There Will Be Blood and Lincoln. He earned two additional nominations for In the Name of the Father and Gangs of New York. We wouldn’t be surprised if Day-Lewis received one more nomination for his final project, Phantom Thread, which hits theaters on December 25, 2017 and reunites the actor with director Paul Thomas Anderson.
