Chewbacca in Han Solo Standalone Film

Little is currently known about Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s standalone Han Solo movie. We don’t even know who will be playing the younger version of everyone’s favorite scruffy-looking nerf-herder, although a shortlist has been released. Given Han’s friendship with a certain wookie, however, we all figured that Chewbacca would appear in the film. At the Deutsche Bank 2016 Media, Internet & Telecom Conference, Disney chief Bob Iger revealed that Chewie is indeed on board.

According to The Wrap, Iger said that the Han Solo film will “come after Star Wars 8 in 2018. And then there’ll be possibly be more thereafter.” Iger additionally discussed Star Wars: Rogue One, confirming that it will be set before A New Hope and be “about a band of rebels plotting to steal the plans to the Death Star.”

It’s still remains unclear how large of a role Chewbacca will have in the Han Solo movie. He could either be a major player or reduced to a minor cameo. In any case, we’re all eager to see Han and Chewie together again.
