Bride of Frankenstein has been put on hold

Earlier this week, Flickreel posted on a feature on how Universal might be able to save the Dark Universe after the disappointment of The Mummy. Alas, it might be too late already.

Just a couple days ago, it was announced that Bill Condon’s Bride of Frankenstein may no longer be connected to the Dark Universe. Now Deadline has confirmed that the film is being postponed.

“After thoughtful consideration, Universal Pictures and director Bill Condon have decided to postpone Bride of Frankenstein,” a statement from Universal read. “None of us want to move too quickly to meet a release date when we know this special movie needs more time to come together. Bill is a director whose enormous talent has been proven time and again, and we all look forward to continuing to work on this film together.”

While this doesn’t mean Bride of Frankenstein is dead, the fate of the Dark Universe isn’t looking so good. In any case, Universal seems to be taking a step backwards, which seems like a smart idea.

Bride of Frankenstein was originally set to come out on February 14, 2019, but now we’ll just have to wait and see.
