Blade Runner 2049 gets an official synospis

Easily one of 2017’s most anticipated releases is the long-awaited sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1982 sci-fi masterpiece Blade Runner, entitled Blade Runner 2049, but thus far the details of the film have been kept very secretive. What we do know is that the original star Harrison Ford is returning along with Scott, who is on board as the film’s producer, and original writer Hampton Fancher who’s co-writing the script with Michael Green.

But with Christmas around the corner, we have been given with a little present in the form of the first official synopsis for the film, which you can read below:

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

While the description does give a little indication of what we can expect many more secrets are still under wraps and we may have to wait a little while longer before we get some more information or indeed our first trailer. That said, we are very excited about this one, particularly with acclaimed director Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Sicario) at the helm.

As well as Ford and Gosling, the film stars Robin Wright (House of Cards), Mackenzie Davis (Black Mirror), Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol.2), Ana de Armas (Hands of Stone), Carla Juri (Morris From America) and Academy Award Winner Jared Leto (Suicide Squad) and is scheduled for release on October 6th, 2017.
