Anna Paquin on Being Cut from X-Men: Days of Future Past
When X-Men: Days of Future Past came out last year, a lot of people found it odd that Anna Paquin was billed over several actors, despite only making a brief cameo with no lines. It was later revealed that Paquin’s Rogue was cut from the film. Earlier this year, a special edition of Days of Future Past was released called The Rogue Cut. This version featured deleted scenes, including a subplot featuring Rogue.
Paquin recently talked to IGN about Days of Future Past, saying that the film may have worked better without the Rogue subplot anyway. “Whatever man,” she commented. “I think other people were more offended by that. I’m like, ‘I don’t want to be in the plot line that doesn’t work!’ Look, don’t hire Bryan Singer and then criticize him for making creative choices in his edit that will make the film good or not good. This is why you hire somebody like that.”
Although Paquin didn’t make the cut in Days of Future Past, she’d be more than willing to continue starring in more X-Men movies. “I would come back and do whatever,” she said. “These are people I’ve known for half my life. I have a lot of love for my X-Men family.” Paquin additionally stated, “I would really like to fly because flying’s cool.”
