It was recently reported that Natalie Portman won’t be returning as Jane Foster in Thor: Ragnarok and Tessa Thompson will be the film’s female lead.

Speaking with the The Empire Film Podcast (via Heroic Hollywood) Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige confirmed that Portman won’t be back for Ragnarok. When asked why, Feige stated that there are “many reasons.” “There are only a couple of scenes on Earth in this movie,” he noted.

Since “80 to 90 percent takes place in the cosmos,” there’s understandably no room for Jane here.

Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3, 2017.
